It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of white and blue.

Shield Azure with base wavy of Argent and Azure, a castle Or, having three embattled towers, with port and windows Azure, masoned Sable, flanked by two paly lances Argent, issuant from a mountain Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "FERRAGUDO".

The only difference was the number of visible towers of the mural crown: three (village rank).

Ferragudo gained the title of a town on 30 June 1999. Flag and arms published in the official journal Diário da República: III Série on 16 August 2000, former symbols on 24 November 1992

Ferragudo Commune is one of the four communes of the Lagoa (Algarve) municipality (q.v.); it had 1973 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 5.8 km².
