It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field.

Shield Or, on a mound of three coupeaux Vert a torch alight Gules in a basket Sable, flanked by two bugles Gules set in pale and pointing inwards. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "LAMAS - MACEDO DE CAVALEIROS".
Meaning:
"Lamas", means "muds"; the arms not canting for it.

Lamas Commune is one of the 30 communes of Macedo de Cavaleiros Municipality; it had 278 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 8.7 km².
