Adopted in 6 February 1953; wavy white and blue line in lower part.

Judging from the image at Raynaud Vagues soviet flag exhibition website, the hammer and sickle emblem on the soviet Estonia flag has the same size and placement specs than in the soviet national flag.

No hammer, sickle and star on the reverse side.

Officially reverse looked like obverse without star and hammer-sickle. But in fact I never saw these flags without star, hammer-sickle. Real flags (all 15) usually were either with reverse analogous to obverse (but with star and hammer-and-sickle near the hoist) or with reverse = mirrored obverse.

1918 tricolor flag allowed?

I was aware at the time that Mikhail Gorbachev had decided to let Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia fly their 1918 national flags, in addition to their S.S.R. flags.

Coat of arms

The emblem of the SSR was used until 8 May 1990 (introduction date not mentioned by Hesmer [hes92], but probably 1940).
