According to an image, presumably posted by the County Government, the flag
of Sumter County consists of a white field with a decorative blue border, a blue
silhouette of the county appears on the hoist, on which a white oval is placed
bearing an image of what is probably the county's namesake person. The word
"Sumter" appears in the upper right corner in a serif font, while in the bottom
right corner appears the crescent and moon from the South Carolina flag, with
the words ''The Gamecock County''.

The picture in the oval is a depiction of the statue of Brigadier General
Thomas Sumter of Revolutionary War fame which stands in front of the county
courthouse.
