The municipality of Capiovi (6,097 inhabitants in 2010, 10,800 ha) is located on river Paraná, here the border with Paraguay.
The flag of Capiovi is horizontally divided green-white with a circular emblem in the middle.
The flag, designed by Agustina Ayelén Villalba, student at the Instituto Nuestra Señora de Itatí, was selected in a public contest
and inaugurated on 9 August 2013.
The green stripe recalls the origin of the town's name, meaning "a green, high pasture" in Guarani. The emblem features the town's
landmark, the Capiovi Cascade. The rising sun is a symbol of aspiration to a better future. Celestial blue is the colour of the sky while white is the colour of peace; the two colours also recall the national flag.
