On 1 October 1872, in Sydney a club was formed for boats of small class. Mind
you, these might still be yachts, but with a 22 feet overall limit. Thus was
born the Sydney Amateur Sailing Club (SASC). One of the first decisions the new
club took, was to remove the limit in size, thus the SASC became a complete
sailing club.
In its Constitution, dated 12 September 1962, the club
mentions its flags:
13 Flags and Club Burgee
13.1 Club Burgee and Racing
Flag
(a) The Club Burgee is a white triangular pennant with a deep blue
cross.

(b) The Club Racing Flag is white rectangular flag with a deep blue letter ‘A’.

Though I
followed the constitution where the racing flag is concerned, the one I
actually saw depicted was the Racing A Flag in the club's shop:

The Vice- and
Rear, and in this case also the Fleet Captain all suffer from the lack of
precision regarding the size and location of the balls. Note, BTW, that the
balls are black, even though the club's charges are otherwise very dark blue.
