Kladanj is situated on river Drinjača, beneath the Konjuh mountain. Today the main industry is wood processing; however, the mineral springs of Kladanj are probably most famous for the production of "Male water" (Muška voda), with alledged aphrodisiac effects and curing "male diseases", which was once the main export of Kladanj.
The surraundings preserve more than 400 stećak (funerary monuments from the pre-Islamic period. The Hadži-Balibeg mosque, erected in 1545, is also known as Kuršumlija (from
Turkish kuršun, "lead", as its dome was covered with lead).

Coat of arms of Kladanj - Image by Željko Heimer, 22 June 2011
The coat of arms of Kladanj is prescribed by Decision Odluka o utvrđivanju grba općine Kladanj, adopted on 14 July 1998 by the Municipal Assembly and published in the Municipal official gazette Službeni Općine Kladanj.
The coat of arms is a white shield, bordered yellow, with a green inscription in the chief, a blue and yellow representation of the Hadži-Balibeg mosque with its dome and minaret, between two green triangles representing mountains. In the left and right are also blue representations of a medieval stećak and an Ottoman window, a red fleur-de-lis in between above a blue wavy lines representing rivers Drinjača, Ujka and Gostelja. In the base is a green crescent with the horns upwards, between two blue sabres and the green Roman numeral "XIII". This should mean "13th century", the dating of Kladanj, although the place was actually mentioned already in the 12th century.
