The LBWB, founded in 1978, is a watersport federation including c. 15,000 active members representing c. 50 clubs. Some of these clubs have a sailing tradition dating back more than 100 years ago.
The flag of the LBWM is swallow-tailed. The upper part of the field (c. 60% of the flag height) is blue with a white disc bearing a windrose fimbriated in blue. The lower part of the field is white with the letters LBWB in blue and a thin horizontal white stripe in the middle of the white field.

The flag of the FFYB (known in 1978-2004 as the Ligue Francophone du Yachting Belge, LFYB) exists in two formats, rectangular, in proportion 2:3, and swallow-tailed, in proportion 5:8. It has a white field with a thin Belgian tricolor flag (20% of the field height) stretching all over the flag. Over the tricolor flag is placed a black anchor fouled in yellow. In canton is placed a Royal crown (in colours).
