The municipality of Campestre da Serra (3,247 inhabitants in 2010; 53,991 ha
is located 200 km north of Porto Alegre.
Campestre da Serra was
originally known as Vila Korff, named for its first settler. The inauguration on
15 February 1907 of the Korff bridge, the first bridge built over Tapirs' River,
cause the boom of the place.
Renamed to Campestre ("a small camp surrounded
by forest"), the town was originally the 3rd district of Vacaria, with seat in
São Manuel. The building of a road caused the relocation of the inhabitants of
São Manuel to Campestre.
The municipality of Campestre da Sierra was
established on 23 March 1991.

The flag and arms of Campestre da Serra are prescribed by Municipal Law No.
243 promulgated on 27 September 1999.
Article 1.
I. Coat of arms
a)
The elements of the coat of arms have the following meaning:
Political
component: The upper part of the coat of arms features a mural crown,
symbolizing the municipality's administrative autonomy; the open gates welcome
those who want to be part of the municipality's greatness.
Religious
component: The cross, centered on the coat of arms, symbolizes the
centralization of the municipal activities around the principles of faith.
Economical component: A farmer cultivating the soil, a bovine, a chicken, a
garlic head, a tomato, an apple, a peach, grapes, roses and a truck characterize
the municipal potential for agriculture, cattle-breeding and road transport.
Industrial and commercial components: The cogwheel and the bell are symbols of
industry and commerce.
Traditional component: The scroll inscribed "20-03
CAMPESTRE DA SERRA 1992" indicated the date of emancipation of the municipality.
II. Flag
a) The municipal flag shall be charged in the center with the
municipal coat of arms.
b) The elements of the flag have the following
meaning:
Political component: The flag's colors, red, white and blue, are a
tribute to the Italian origin of most early settlers and founders of the
municipality of Campestre da Serra.
Symbolic component: The flag's colors,
red, white and blue, also represent:
Red represents the soil and the products
of diverse activities such as arboriculture, horticulture, cattle-breeding,
agriculture, aviculture etc., fruit cultivated and harvested with much sweat and
blood.
White represents the limpid water of the rivers and aspiration to
harmonious and pacific coexistence of the population.
Blue represents the sky
and the perspective of future prosperity.
Article 3.
The dimensions
and norms of use of the flag prescribed in this Law shall be as for the national
and state flags [...]
