Municipality

The municipality of Nova Pádua (2,553 inhabitants in 2019; 10,273 ha) is located 160 km north of Porto Alegre.

Nova Pádua was established in 1886 by the Venetian immigrants Francisco Mantovani, Carlos Montavani, João Zanini, Ferreiro, Pedro Sartor, Francisco Menegat, Pascoal Pauleti and Pedro Menegat.
The district of Nova Pádua was established within Caixas by Municipal Act No. 57 issued on 28 January 1994. It was transferred by State Decree No. 3,320 issued on 17 May 1924 to the newly formed municipality of Novo Trento, which would be renamed to Flores da Cunha by Decree No. 12 issued on 21 December 1935.
The municipality of Nova Pádua was established by State Law No. 9,560 promulgated on 20 March 1992, and inaugurated on 1 January 1993.

Symbols

The flag of Nova Pádua is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 53 promulgated on 26 July 1993.

Article 1.
The flag of the municipality of Nova Pádua shall have for official colors blue, white and green, arranged in three diagonal stripes, representing:
a) Blue represents the rivers and waterfall, and the sky.
b) White represents people's integration and message of peace.
c) Green represents cultural resources, ecology and people's aspirations.

§1. Azure shall be used for the stripe at the inner end, green for the stripe at the outer end, and white for the flag's center.
§2. The center of the white stripe shall be charged with the coat of arms of the municipality.

Article 2.
The features of the flag shall obey the following rules.
I. The flag's width shall be 12 units.
II. The flag's length shall be 16 units.
III. The flag's width shall be 11 units. (?)
IV. From left to right, the blue stripe starts from the 5th unit in the lower part; from left to right, the green stripe starts from the first 11th unit.
V. The coat of arms shall be of 4 units in width, leaving 3.5 units in the upper and lower parts.

The coat of arms of Nova Pádua is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 52 promulgated on 26 July 1993.

Article 1.
A shield in elliptic shape, emphasizing in the upper part the geographic features of the municipality with mountains, rivers, waterfalls, a Brazilian pine representing vegetation, and a rising sun. In the lower part a cogwheel and a bunch of grapes representing industry and wine production.
The shield surmounted by a five-towered mural crown representing the municipality's autonomy.
In the ellipse's base, the main crops of the municipality, featuring grapes as the main product and orchards representing the base of the municipal income.
Beneath the shield a scroll inscribed "20 de março NOVA PÁDUA de 1992", date of creation of the municipality and its official name.
The coat of arms uses as its main colors green and red.
