Rolador boomed due to the railway line connecting São Luiz Gonzaga and Cerro
Largo; the railway, whose building was initiated in 1938, was inaugurated on 10
January 1957 by the President of the Republic.
The district of Rolador was
established by Municipal Law No. 87, promulgated in October 1951. The
municipality of Rolador was established by State Law No. 70,750 promulgated on
16 April 1996.

The flag of Rolador is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 46 promulgated on 6
June 2001.
Article 2.
The flag of Rolador is described as follows:
Rectangular, with three parts formed by a diagonal running from bottom to top.
as for the colors, the first part is green, the second, white, charged with the
coat of arms prescribed by Law No. 42 promulgated on 18 May 2001, placed in the
center, and the third, golden yellow.
The flag shall be 14 units in width
on 20 units in length, the coat of arms being (at its ends) 6 units in width on
6 units in length.
