The municipality of Vista Alegre de Prata (1,569 inhabitants in 2010; 11,933
ha) is located 200 km north of Porto Alegre.
Vista Alegre de Prato was
established as Linha 6ª General Osório, part of the municipality of Alfredo
Chaves (now, Veranópolis). The first Italian immigrants settled in 1892, coming
from the Treviso Province. They were subsequently joined by Polish immigrants.

The flag of Vista Alegre do Prata is blue with two green and red chevrons,
charged in the center with a white disc featuring the municipal coat of arms.

The municipal anthem provides some hint on the meaning of the colors of
the flag.
"Blue,
From the south, is the sky over this land,
Red is people's
brave blood
