On 2 April 2017 the new commune of Riviera was formed of the communes of Cresciano, Iragna, Lodrino and Osogna (see below).

The new emblem, which is heraldically impeccable, incorporates elements of the former communal emblems and the characteristic letter R from the district emblem. The wavy bar stands for the Ticino river, and the hammer and chisel for the traditional stonemason branch.


Cresciano (until 1 April 2017)

On the flag of Cresciano, the tools are a sledge-hammer (azza) and a chisel (scalpello) under a rusticated arch (bugnato).

On the flag of Lodrino, the sledge-hammer, the chisel and the bell symbolize the stone hewers and sheperds, professions the most widespread among the population. The cloak on the sword is the attribute of St. Martin, this refers to the antique church already mentioned in 1215.
