On 1 January 2014 the new commune of Bettmeralp was formed by the merger of Betten and Martisberg (see below). It adopted the old emblem of Betten.

Martisberg (until 31 December 2013)

Or a Sword Azure hilted Sable inverted in bend sinistre covered with a cloth Gules in base Coupeaux Vert.
This must refer to St. Martin (the place name is derived from it, right?) and his cutting of his cloth in two to share it with a beggar.
