Garabito Canton (22,143 inhabitants, 31,631 ha) is made of the two districts
of Jacó and Tárcoles. Garabito Canton was established by Law No. 6,512 of 25
September 1980, as the 11th canton of Puntarenas Province. Tárcoles district was
established by Decree No. 431 of 30 November 1988. The canton was named for the
old colonial Garabito Province, itself named for a famous local cacique, whose
name means "The Best".

I got some update of flags and coat of arms from the provinces, cantons and
districts of Costa Rica, on facebook I open a page that contains the flags and
coat of arms under "Mapas, banderas de cantones y distritos de Costa Rica" the
name of the file is the name of the canton.
