Introduction: National Democratic Party of Germany 1948-1990
Nationaldemokratische Partei Deutschlands, NDPD

A yellow flag with NDPD symbol in center, this being yellow on dark red on yellow, three oak leaves, underneath the letters NDPD in black. The symbol also existed as a button or badge with yellow leaves and yellow letters on dark red background. Source: German Democratic Republic party website.
Volker Moerbitz Keith, 23 and 26 January 2001

According to Günther 2000 the NDPD never used a proper flag, only a symbol, also on flag-like drapings. The image in Günther 2000 shows the leaves contoured in red, the lettering NDPD contoured in black (thus symbol without surrounding rectangle). The colours refer to the German national colours.
Marcus Schmöger, 26 January 2001

The NDPD was established to attract nationalistic people (old Wehrmacht officers and old Nazis) in the German Democratic Republic.
Marcus Schmöger, 7 October 2001

The party did use a proper flag, charged with its logo in red and black in the center of a gold field and two narrow red stripes, placed along the top and bottom edges. The photo can be seen at the German Digital Library website. This is the only currently known photo of the flag, so there must have been a small number of copies produced, an even smaller number having survived.
