Shield Azure, a fir Or on top of a mount issuant of the same, charged by a fess above embattled and below engrailed, in chief on either side a quadruplet of organ pipes Argent.
Meaning:
The pipes are alluding to the fact that a famous organ is in the local church, which was made by Gottfried Silbermann, the most important German organ builder in the Baroque Age. Mount and tree are alluding to the location in the Lusatian mountains. The embattlements and engrailed waves are alluding to the local moated castle.

Shield with Baroque frame Or, parted per pall of Azure and Argent, in centre parted per pale of Argent and Gules, over all an embowed arm clad in armour Azure and holding a sword Argent in bend sinister hilted Or, issuant from base an embattled wall Sable with two embattled towers of the same, all masoned Argent with windows Argent and portcullis Or.
Meaning:
The village belonged to the Bohemian Lordship of Schluckenau in the middle of the 15th century and became a royal fiefdom of th Kingdom of Böhmen in 1572. When Upper Lusatia was acquired by the Electorate of Sachsen in 1635, the village remained a Bohemian exclave. After a new town was founded in 1650, Schirgiswalde gained city rights in 1665. The Convent of Bautzen became manorial lord of the city in 1628, finally in 1702. The city was ceded to Sachsen in 1809 by the Treaty of Wien. The city became a hotspot for smugglers, deserters and all kinds of refugees, as it was freed from military service and taxes, as the city was still under Austrian jurisdiction, executed by the convent. This status was changed in 1845 by the Saxonian government. The arms were granted on occasion of the grant of city rights on behalf of the manorial lord Otto of Ottenfeld. Arm, sword and the shield parted per pale are taken from his family arms. Wall and towers are stressing the status of a city. The pattern remained basically the same, but the form of the shield changed and the tincture of wall and towers.

The banner was adopted in 1995. The arms were granted on 19 February 1665 by Emperor Leopold.
