The flag's ratio is nearly 1:2. It is an 8-stripes flag divided horizontally by alternating black and dark red stripes. The coat of arms without shield is placed into a yellow flaghead.

Description of banner:
It is an 8-stripes flag divided vertically by alternating black and dark red stripes. The coat of arms without shield is placed into a yellow bannerhead.

Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess into two golden (= yellow) fields. Above is a black eagle armed and tongued red, below is a black statant lion tongued red.
Meaning:
According to source the eagle is symbolizing, that Düren had been a free imperial city until 1242/1246, when the city was mortgaged to the dukes of Jülich, to whom the lion below is alluding. The colours had been defined in 1923. The image was known from seals since the 1240ies.
