The shield is red. A silver, sinister-bendy axe is splitting an oak stomp of the same with one leaf. In dexter chief is a silver, 6-spokes wheel.
Meaning:
The wheel is alluding to the Archbishops of Mainz, the former rulers. All other elements are canting, especially related to the suffix "-rode ", denoting settlements created by forest clearance.

Meaning:
The bar wavy is alluding to local fountains. The wheel is representing the Archbishops of Mainz, the former rulers. The leaf is alluding to local oak groves and to the Eichsfeld region, meaning "field of oaks".

Meaning:

Meaning:
The lion is a modification of the arms of the Westernhagen kin. The saltire is an attribute of St. Andrew, the local patron saint, the keys are attributes of St. Peter, patron of nearby monastery of Teistungenburg.
