It is a vertical 5-stripes banner with alternating white and green stripes with ratio of stripes approx. 1:5:20:5:1. The coat of arms is shifted to the top within the central stripe.

The shield is divided by a cross gyronny of Argent and Sable, Vert a fleur-de-lis Argent on 1st and 4th quarter, Argent a fir Vert on 2nd and 3rd quarter.
Meaning:
The cross is symbolising the Abbey of Fulda, to which the area historically belonged. The green and silver colour are symbolising the local landscape and the fir trees the forestal riches.
The arms were approved on 5 September 1973.
