Description of flag:
The ratio is 3:5. The flag is vertically divided blue - white -blue with ratio 1:2:1. The coat of arms is in the white stripe slightly shifted to the top.

Description of coat of arms:
The sinister side of the silver(=white shield) is divided by a blue pale. Upon the dexter side there are two blue blossoms of corn-flowers.
Meaning:
According to Veddeler 2003, p.163 the blossoms are symbolizing the two settlements of Langenberg and Benteler, which formed the new city. The pale is symbolizing the highway connecting both cores from North to South.
Flag, banner and coat of arms were approved by Regierungspräsident Detmold on 15 December 1977.

Flag:
It is a red over yellow over red horizontal triband with ratio of stripes approx. 1:4:1. The coat of arms is in the middle of the central stripe.

Shield off centred parted per pale wavy (approx. 4:1), at sinister Argent (with two wavy lines Sable in pale), at dexter Gules, couped per pale a forearm Or holding a Tau-cross with a bell, all Or.
Meaning:
The flag colours red and gold (yellow) had been the colours of the Bishopric of Münster (Benteler even today belongs to the diocese of Münster, while Langenberg belongs to Paderborn). The scene on the dexter side is alluding to St. Anthony, the local patron saint. Tau-cross and bell are among his attributes. Benteler since 1816 had been part of Liesborn-Wadersloh, it seceded in 1898 and since 1970 became part of Langenberg.
The arms wereapproved in 1966 by Minister of Interior of Northrhine-Westphalia.
