Shield Argent, a lion rampant Sable, holding the model of a church Gules with two towers by his forepaws.
Meaning:
Kirchberg gained city rights in 1373 from Emperor Karl IV on behalf of the Hohenlohe kin. The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the city from the 16th century, which however displayed a lion rampant guardant, as displayed in the family arms of the Hohenlohe kin.
In the 17th century the church was replaced by a sceptre, in the 19th century the whole arms were replaced by new canting arms, showing a church on a mountain or a triplemount. The old arms were restored and approved in 1953 and confirmed in 1979, the lion however since then was no longer guardant.
