Coat of Arms

Shield Gules three salt hooks Argent in fess.
Meaning:
The production of salt from salty waters caused the foundation of a settlement in the 12th century. In 1392 meanwhile a market town Salzdetfurth used a seal with three hooks in salt pan. Otto Hupp coloured the seal with black hooks in a white pan on a red shield. This pattern was also used in a brick of the local St.George Church and on a council's seal from the 16th century. Since around 1569 the seal displayed the salt manikin. His name was probably derived from the first independent local pastor Bertram Soltmann. Bad Salzdetfurth gained city rights in 1949.
The arms were approved in 1939 by Oberpräsident of Prussian Hannover Province.
