Shield Argent, a throughout cross sable, superimposed by a key Azure and a sword Azure in saltire.
Meaning:
The black cross is taken from the arms of the Abbey of Fulda, the abbots had been the former rulers. Key and sword are the symbols of the patron saints of the Somborn parish church, St. Peter and St. Paul. The sword is also symbolising a local court and hence the name of the municipality , as "Freigericht" means "vehmic court".
The arms were approved on 6 October 1971.
