Meaning:
In 1889 the municipality denied the existence of proper arms. Later there appeared a local court seal with the family arms of the Lords of Würtzburg, the bearded man with jelly bag cap and star. Hieronymus of Würtzburg acquired the lower castle of Mitwitz in 1575. Later he became reeve and gained the local cognisance and the right of patronage and finally the family gained complete control. The dexter half is a differentiation of the arms of the Bishopric of Bamberg, which had the sovereignty over Mitwitz. The trees are referring to the local woods and the importance of forestry. The colours black and yellow are those of the bishopric.
