Shield quartered, 1st quarter parted per fess dancetty with three points of Gules and Argent, 2nd quarter barry of eight of Or and Gules, 3rd quarter bendy of five of Gules and Or, 4th quarter Argent parted by a fess Or charged with three pallets wavy Gules.
Meaning:
All quarters display the arms of the joint former local rulers. The most important one is the Franconian rake in the 1st quarter, the arms of the Bishopric of Würzburg. The 2nd quarter displays the barry shield of the Counts of Rieneck, whose existence in Aura is proven since 1401. The counts died out in 1559. The 3rd quarter displays the bendy shield of the Barons of Hutten, whose existence in Aura is proven since 1310. The 4th quarter displays the family arms of the Barons of Thüngen, who ruled the valley of the Sinn River (German: Sinngrund) between the 14th and 17th century. The quartered shield is also symbolising a condominion of those four, which existed in Aura. The village had also been seat of a district (German: Amt).
