Shield Argent, on a branch Vert, an owl statant guardant Sable.
Meaning:
The town belonged to the Bishopric of Bamberg. The oldest seal from the late 16th century displayed on a Renaissance shield an owl sitting on a rock. A reconstruction from 1818 displayed a shield Argent with an owl proper on a rock Vert. The owl turned black first in 1856 within Siebmacher's new edition. On newer seals the rock was replaced by a branch. The owl is referring to the old name of the town "Eulen" (= owls) before 1890.
