Meaning:
Hammer and mallet are referring to copper mining, the sheaf is referring to the fertile soil, the tools to copper processing, they are a modification of the 2nd quarter in the arms of the counties of Mansfelder Gebirgskreis (1816 - 1950) and Hettstedt (1952 - 1994). The tools in its arms were black on a white quarter. The lozenges are the family arms of the Counts of Mansfeld.

Meaning:
The 1st and 4th quarters display the family arms of the Counts of Mansfeld. The trefoil is the actual local symbol. Hammer and mallet are the symbols of mining. The oldest local seal displayed a church, charged with the family arms of the counts. Seals since the 18th century displayed trefoil, hammer and mallet.
