Meaning:
The village was first mentioned in 1349. Originally it belonged to the Cistercian Altzella Monastery and since the 16th century to the city of Freiberg under the sovereignty of the Electorate of Sachsen. The bridge (German: Brücke) is a representation of the former name giving aqueduct. The house is a representation of the engine house of Großes Geschrei (= loud shouting), a pit (see this photo). The chimney is a representation of the so called "high stack", which had been the highest chimney in Europe, having a height of 140 metres and a weight of 5.4 Mio metric tons (see German WIKIPEDIA). Hammer and mallet are the symbols of mining. Poker, fork and broach are tools used for forging.
