Shield Vert a castle Argent, masoned Sable with port and windows of the same, flanked by two round towers of the same with domes Gules, between the towers a stepped gable Or topped by a crosslet of the same.
Meaning:
City and castle belonged to the County of Brehna, a dominion of the Wettin kin. Between 1298 and 1423 it belonged to the Duchy of Sachsen-Wittenberg, to the Ernestine branch of the Electorate of Sachsen since 1485, to the Albertine branch since 1547 and to Preußen (Prussia) since 1815. The oldest city seals from 1445 and 1481 already displayed the current pattern, which has never changed since then. The pattern is related to the komturia of the Teutonic Order, which was established in Dommitzsch in 1223.
