Illingen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per bend, above left Azure a flag Or with finial of the same and staff Gules, beneath right Or a key Gules in bend.
Meaning:
On 1 January 1974 Schützingen was incorporated into Illingen. The two quarters are representing the former municipalities. The arms of Illingen proper displayed the yellow flag since 1937. It was based on the arms of the Lords of Illingen, who died out in the 14th century. The tinctures were chosen arbitrarily, as the original tinctures had been unknown. The key had been a local symbol of Schützingen. It appeared already in the Forestal Journal of Kieser (1684) and was approved as arms of the village on 4 July 1968 by Minister of Interior of Baden-Württemberg.
