The following municipalities don't have proper flags: Bokel, Brande-Hörnerkirchen and Osterhorn, also the subcounty itself.

A rectangular version of the arms without shield is in the centre of the flag, flanked by horizontal bicolours counterchanged to the tinctures of the arms.

Shield Vert, a reed mace Or in pale flanked by two grain ears of the same, chief argent charged with a horn Gules.
Meaning:
The horn is a punning element. In fact the horn here refers to a corner in the landscape. One third of the ara of the municipality today consists of swamps, symbolised by the reed mace. The grain ears are symbolising agriculture. The colours of the chief are those of the County of Rantzau, to which the area historically belonged, they are also the colours of Holstein.

The flag was approved on 26 September 2018. The arms were approved on 29 July 1983.
