Hohen Sprenz Coat of Arms

Shield Azure three sinister facing fish Argent ordered 2:1, shield mantled Argent, at dexter charged with two flails Sable in saltire, at sinister with a church Gules with windows Argent.
Meaning:
The village was first mentioned in 1270 as seat of a parish. In the same year it was transferred from the Lordship of Werle to the Cistercian Abbey of the Holy Cross in Rostock. It was under direct control of the abbey between 1353 and 1553. Secularised it became a dominion of Mecklenburg. The blue field and the fish are alluding to the location on the shores of three lakes: Hohen Sprenzer See, Dudinghausener See and Papensee. The flails are symbolising agriculture as main business line. The church is representation of the local parish church, which was built between 1280 and the 18th century, when a new spire was built.

Laage Coat of Arms

Shield Or, a bull's head caboshed Sable, armed Argent and tongued Gules, issuant between the horns a fleur-de-lis Gules.
Meaning:
The city was first mentioned in 1216 as Lavena, which meant "bridge settlement". It was called a town (oppidum) in 1309 and a city (civitas) in 1336. It belonged to the Lordship of Werle until 1418, to the Principality of Wenden until 1436 and since then it became a possession of the Dukes of Mecklenburg. The arms are based on a city seal with prints since 1353. The current pattern was fixed in 1858. The bull's head is alluding to the Lords of Werle as founders and owners of the city. The meaning of the fleur-de-lis is unknown.
