Oberndorf Coat of Arms

Shield fessy sinister bendy of Or and Sable; chief Or, charged with a wolf trap (type: double hook) Sable in fess.
Meaning:
Oberndorf was founded by the Dukes of Teck and gained city rights between 1245 and 1270. The 1st city seal with prints from 1281 displayed two hooks from the arms of the local Hacken of Oberndorf kin. The double hook as a local symbol had been on the city walls and was used on boundary stones at least until the 17th century. The lozengy, i.e. fessy sinister bendy, shield of the Teck kin appeared first on the 2nd city seal with prints since 1337. Since then the local arms displayed this pattern. The double hook was added again in chief in 1935.
