Trave-Land Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided by a silver (= white) bend sinister wavy into red over blue. Above right is a silver (= white) horsehead accompanied by a branch of oak of the same colour. Below are two golden (= yellow) blossoms of rape.
Meaning:
On 1 January the subcounties of Segeberg-Land and Wensin merged. Both subcounties were originated by the administrative reforms after WW2. The subcounties Segeberg-Land, Pronstorf and Traventhal merged forming the new Segeberg-Land Subcounty. On the other hand Wensin Subcounty merged with the municipalities of Glasau and Seedorf. Though I can recognize only six entities, within source eight entities are claimed. Thus each blossom with its four petals is symbolising one entity before 2006. Rape is also a common crop in the subcounty. Horsehead (Segeberg-Land) and oak (Wensin) are taken from the arms of the former subcounties. The bend wavy is symbolising the Trave River. The colours are those of Schleswig-Holstein.
