Description of flag:
The flags ratio is 3:5. It is a yellow over red horizontal bicolour with the coat of arms in its centre.
Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per pale. On the dexter side there is a red rampant lion, golden (=yellow) crowned, in a golden (=yellow) field. On the sinister side is in a red shield is a golden (=yellow) mark, as being used on gables of houses, shaped like a man trap with a beam in its centre.
Meaning:
The lion is the ensign of the Lords of Erwitte, the sinister side is the coat of arms of the former municipality of Bad Westernkotten.

It is a red and yellow vertical bicolour with the coat of arms shifted to the top. Usually it should be a red and yellow bicolour but obviously the colours have been turned in order to counterchange the fields of the
coat of arms.

Flag, banner and coat of arms of Erwitte were approved by Regierungspräsident Arnsberg on 21 December 1977.
The banner of Bad Westernkotten was approved to the municipality of Westernkotten in 1957. The municipality gained the title Bad(=spa) one year later.
