Shield Argent parted by a cross patty Gules; mantled, at dexter Azure a bend sinister wavy Argent, at sinister Gules a bend Argent.
Meaning:
The red cross patty is a canting symbol, alluding to "Kirche" and "Rot" (=red). It is also alluding to the local pilgrimages dedicated to St. Gangulphus in Kößnach and to the Sacred Blood in Niederachdorf. The bend wavy is a representation of the Donau River (Danube), its loop in Pittrich and its water meadows. Blue and silver furthermore are the tinctures of the Wittelsbach kin and the Counts of Bogen and of St. Mary, to whom a pilgrimage church on the Bogenberg, a mountain, is dedicated. She is also patron saint of Bayern. The white bend in red is representing the Bishopric of Regensburg and the Chapter of Regensburg. The local district (Bavarian: Hofmark) belonged to the chapter between 1530 and 1810.
