Shield quartered of Argent and Sable, four fleur-de-lis in counterchanged tinctures.
Meaning:
The town arms are based on the family arms of the Lords of Gleißenthal, who had been the successors of the Lords of Plößberg as local rulers. Their arms are known by seals and by the roll of arms of Philipp Apian (1568) and had been a simple quartered shield. The fleur-de-lis probably are alluding to the Counts of Sulzbach, who died out in 1188. The Lords of Plößberg had been vassals of the counts in the 12th century and gained the village as fiefdom. Plößberg gained the rights of a market town in 1951.
