Rechtenstein Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a throughout cross Gules; over all an inescutcheon Or, charged with three wolf traps Sable, ordered per pale.
Meaning:
Rechtenstein Castle had been the ancestral seat of Lords of Stain, later barons and counts. In the 1930ies the municipality used a seal, displaying a cross of the Teutonic Order, superimposed by a quartered shield of the Counts of Stain, which is curious, as their family arms only have one field. The inescutcheon displays these family arms. The blue print probably had been the personal arms of a member of this kin, also being knight of the Teutonic Order. The colour of the cross was changed to red, in order to allude to St. George, the local patron saint.
