It is a blue - yellow vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is in the centre of the banner.

Coat of arms

Description of coat of arms:
The red base is masoned black. The main field is divided per pale. The dexter side shows two golden (=yellow) gable shelves shaped like horseheads in a blue field. The sinister side shows a green branch of a beech tree in a golden (= yellow) field.
Meaning:
According to source the municipality of Buchholz gained city rights in 1958 and was renamed in 1959 into Buchholz in der Nordheide. The mural base is symbolizing the economic development of the city. The branch is canting. The shelves can be found on top of the gables of local farm houses and it is understood, that they are symbolizing the ancient tribe of the Saxons.
