The flag and arms of Sierro, adopted on 29 November 2001 by the Municipal Council and revised on 21 July 2003, as suggested on 27 February 2003 by the Royal Academy of Cordóba, are prescribed by Decree No. 284, adopted on 7 October 2003 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 24 October 2003 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 205, p. 22,236 (text).
This was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).

Flag: Rectangular flag, one and a half longer than high, vertically tierced into three equal stripes, blue, white and blue. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Per fess, 1. The arms of Aguilar (1a. Gules a castle or masoned sable port and windows azure, 1b. Argent an eagle sable membered or langued and armed gules [holding a snake gules in the beak]), 2. Azure in base waves argent and azure ensigned by a three-mounded mountain argent cantonned dexter by a branch of olive tree and sinister by a branch of almond tree all or. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown closed.
The castle and the eagle [águila] represent the arms of the Marquis del Aguilar, recalling that the place was granted to the Aguilar family by the Catholic Monarchs. The mountains represent the sierra, the orography and the municipal toponym. Olive and almonds are the local agricultural resources. The waves represent the river that waters the municipality.
