The flag and arms of Garganta del Villar are prescribed by a Decree
adopted on 28 April 2014 by the Municipal Council, signed on 8 May
2014 by the Mayor, and published on 23 May 2014 in the official
gazette of the Province of Ávila, No. 97, p. 17 (text).
The flag is not described in the Decree. The coat of arms is described
as follows:
Coat of arms: Shield of Spanish type. Per pale, 1. Checky azure and argent, 2. Or the Peña Horcá. The whole surmounted with a Spanish Royal crown.
The first quarter refers to the historical domain to which the village belonged. The second quarter alludes to one of the most characteristic places in the municipality.
The symbols, designed by Eduardo Duque, were officially unveiled on 9
August 2014.
The flag is horizontally divided light blue-white-yellow with the
municipal arms in the middle. The colours of the flag are those of the
arms.
The first quarter of the arms is made of the arms of Álvarez de
Toledo, lords of Valdecorneja.
