In the 1960s, the present Badiá del Vallès was developed by immigration from the southern Spain and divided in two municipalities – Barbera del Vallès and Cerdanyola del Vallès. In 1994 the two villages were merged as Badiá del Vallès and the coat of arms was designed. The background shows the colours used by the two different municipalities. A swallow was used as a symbol of emigration.
