Presentation of Acedera

The municipality of Acedera (798 inhabitants in 2018; 8,250 ha) is located 140 km east of Badajoz. The municipality is composed of the villages of Acedera and Los Guadalperales (689 inh.).

Flag of Acedera

The flag and arms of Acedera, adopted on 9 March and 23 December 1992 by the Municipal Council and validated on 24 November 1992 and 15 February 1993 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, are prescribed by an Order issued on 25 February 1993 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 11 March 1993 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 30, pp. 19-20 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular, tierced per bend sinister, green, yellow and green, in the center with the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: Vert three sorrel [acedera] flowers or. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

Los Guadalperales

The submunicipal entity of Los Guadalperales was established by Decree No. 2,188 issued on 23 July 1971 by the Spanish Government and published on 22 September 1971 in the Spanish official gazette, no. 227, pp. 15,380-15,381.

Los Guadalperales (municipal website) was established at the end of the 1950s as part of Plan Badajoz managed by the National Institute of Colonization. Water was supplied to the newly irrigated area by the Orellana Canal. The first colonists came from several places in the region and elsewhere in Spain; more than 50 of them, however, originated from Orellana la Vieja.

The flag and arms of Los Guadalperales, adopted on 4 February and 27 March 1998 by the Village Council and validated on 17 February and 5 October 1998 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, are prescribed by an Order issued on 26 October 1998 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 3 November 1998 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 126, pp. 8,015-8,016 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, in proportions 2:3. Composed of a panel red at hoist and green elsewhere in respective proportions 1:4 and 3:4. Charged in the center with the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: Gules two pear trees [perales] eradicated proper with a trunke vert and fructed or over four waves azure and argent. A bordure or five watermelons vert. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
