Symbols of Espinosa del Camino

The flag and arms of Espinosa del Camino (Escudos y Banderas de la Provincia de Burgos website) are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 3 September 2009 by the Municipal Council and published on 15 October 2009 in the official gazette of the Province of Burgos.
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, in proportions 2:3, made of three equal vertical stripes, the outer green and the central white, charged with two red scallops placed per pale.
Coat of arms: Vert a pallet argent charged with two scallops gules per pale. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown.

The vertical stripes on the flag and arms represent the toponym: the green stripes stand for Espinosa, referring to espinosa, "a thorny bush", while the white stripe stands for Camino, the way, referring to the Way of St. James, also symbolized by the scallops.
