The flag and arms of Valle de Oca (Escudos y Banderas de la Provincia de Burgos website) are prescribed by a Decree adopted
on 24 February 2010 by the Municipal Council, signed on 10 March 2010
by the Mayor, and published on 25 March 2010 in the official gazette
of the Province of Burgos, No. 57 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular flag, in proportions 2:3, made of a red panel charged with a white isosceles triangle with the base along the hoist and the vertex in the middle of the fly. Two blue horizontal waves are placed on the white triangle.
Coat of arms: Argent two waves azure chaussˇ gules two heads of garlic or. The shield surmounted with a Royal Spanish crown..
The flag is, therefore, a simplified banner of the arms (heads of
garlic excluded) rotated orthogonally.
The V-shape on the shield represents the valley (valle), while the
waves represent river Oca. Red and white are the colours of Castilla y
León.
The heads of garlic must recall that the valley of Oca is locally
known as "Valle de los Ajos" (Garlic Valley). River Oca (70 km), borne in the Oca Mounts, close to Rábanos, is a tributary of Ebro.
