The municipality of Cabezarrubias del Puerto (487 inhabitants in 2018; 10,059 ha) is located 80 km south-west of Ciudad Real.
Cabezarrubias was already settled in the Neolithic, as evidenced by the
rock paintings found in the Station's Cave. The area was reconquered in
1212 by the Order of Calatrava. The village was first mentioned in Alfonso XI's Libro de las Monterías as Cabezas Rubias. In 1369, sick soldiers discovered the healing water of Fuencaliente.
Cabezarrubias separated from Puertollano in 1842.
