3 July 1992 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 50, pp.

The coat of arms is described as follows:
Coat of arms: Spanish shield. Per pale, 1. Argent a pine eradicated vert on three waves azure, 2. Vert two roundels argent in pale charged with the graphics of the "Chillarón idol" azure. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
The Chillarón idol (Cuenca Museum; photos) dates back to the late 3rd-early 2nd millennium BC. The pebble-shaped, ovoid piece features on both sides a
symbolic, anthropomorphic ornamentation made of wide and deep incisions.
Martín Almagro Basch (1911-1984) interpreted it as a stylized human
representation, feminine on the anterior face and masculine on the
posterior, comparable to other pieces and representations on rocky
painting in the Provinces of Cuenca and Albacete. It would represent a Neolithic deity connected with life's basic principle, fertility and
fecundity.
