The municipality of Huélamo (106 inhabitants in 2015; 7,900 ha) is
located 60 km north-east of Cuenca.
Huélamo was during the Muslim rule one of the main fortresses in the
Province of Cuenca, together with Uclès and Huete. The castle watched
the Jews' Gorge, a strategic passage on the road to Albarracín. After
the Christian reconquest, Huélamo was granted by Alfonso VIII to the
Order of St. James.

The flag of Huélamo is prescribed by an Order issued on 14 June 2006 by
the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 30 June 2006 in
the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 134, p. 14,385 (text).
The flag is described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular in proportions 2:3, horizontally divided by a serration, the upper part, white, the lower part, green, the municipal coat of arms placed in the center of the panel.
