The flag and arms of Cortes de Baeza are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 26 November 1997 by the Municipal Council. Validated by "administrative silence" of the Government of Andalusia, this was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Directorate General of the Local Administration and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).
The symbols are prescribed as follows:
Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3, made of three equal horizontal stripes, the outer white, the central blue, and of a vertical stripe placed along the hoist, covering 1/3 of the flag's length, red with a white tower.
Coat of arms: Gules a mount proper ensigned with a tower argent masoned sable over waves azure and argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
The waves represent river Castril that waters the municipality, as river Cortes. The tower represents the tower that watched the valley of river Cortes, around which the village subsequently developed.
